Who I Am
Hello,
My name is Shaelyn.
Ayanna Blue is the chosen name of my practice. Both words are connected to my maternal family lines, two lineages with their own relationship to the healing arts. My grandfather was a clinical psychologist, and my great-grandmother was a Seer in Guyana.
The call towards this work was quiet for a long time, until it became louder following two shocking bereavements in the same year. From there, my journey has taken me in many directions. Perhaps, like you, I have known what it is to feel bewildered, lost, and unsure of myself.
The more life I live, and the more I work with clients, the more I find myself turning away from the idea that life is something we need to figure out — or that we can ever fully figure ourselves out. Instead, I am becoming increasingly interested in what it might mean to meet life as a mystery: to remain open to what we don't yet know, and to cultivate the spontaneity, curiosity and aliveness that a creative existence requires.
This is part of why I chose the name Ayanna Blue for my practice.
I have felt disconnected from this part of my lineage, and for a long time experienced that disconnection as a kind of loss — a sense of something within myself that was absent or unreachable. Rather than trying to resolve that absence, I have chosen to allow the mystery of what is unknown about my past to reveal itself in its own time.
Perhaps this is also what I hope for our work together. That the mysteries, concerns and frustrations you find yourself living with might not necessarily need to be solved, but can be met with enough attention and curiosity that something new becomes possible. That, through the process of listening more deeply to your experience, you might come into a different relationship with what is difficult, unknown or unresolved — and with the parts of yourself that are waiting to be encountered.
As a qualified counsellor, I provide a grounded psychological environment for adults seeking to understand their internal world. My practice is built on active curiosity, compassion and respect for each person's individual path. With a background in Psychosynthesis Counselling and a Master's degree in Psychosynthesis Psychology, I offer a steady and empathetic presence for those moving through significant transitions, questioning aspects of their identity or relationships, or encountering life's deeper existential questions.
